Job Exploration Counseling

Upon completion, students will be able to 

  • describe the meaning of Competitive Integrated Employment (CIE) 

  • idenfity employment options available in our local job market and their growth rates

  • identify level of training or education required to become employed in desired field

  • name their career interests, strengths, and skills

Camp Self-Advocacy Training

Upon completion, students will be able to 

  • describe how the laws IDEA and ADA protect students while in school and employment

  • identify their needs for accommodations, education for desired employment, and modifications (while in high school)

  • identify their strengths, goals, choices for learning, and areas in need of improvement

  • deliver responses to personally intrusive or illegal questions about their disabiity

  • discuss when it may be appropriate to disclose one's disability and demonstrate effective techniques for doing so

  • Discuss personal safety for work including situational awareness and internet safety

Camp Work Based Learning Experiences

Upon completion, students will be able to 

  • identify required work behavior for attendance and timeliness

  • demonstrate interpersonal communication skills and conflict resolution

  • know how to dress professionally for work

During the program, students will

  • participate in informational interviews

  • participate in virtual "field trips" learning about several different fields of employment

  • participate in an Appropriate Work Attire Fashion Show
